January Virginia Tour #2

We have been hard at work finalizing plans for our second January tour of Virginia! Here are some places you can expect to find us making music together this month:

THURSDAY, JANUARY 15. SPRINGFIELD, VIRGINIA (DC AREA). Thanks to the generosity of our good composer friend, Russell Nadel, we have the opportunity to present a full-length concert at Adat Reyim at 7:30pm. This concert is free and showcases some of our favorite new music, including Russell’s own Orchard Sunset.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 18. ABINGDON, VIRGINIA (SOUTHWEST VA). We are presenting a full-length concert on Virginia Highlands Community College‘s Arts Array series. This 3pm concert is funded in part by the Virginia Commission for the Arts. Thanks to VHCC and the Arts Array series for inviting us to perform!

TUESDAY, JANUARY 20. CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA (CENTRAL/WESTERN VA). we are performing a joint new music concert with blood moon at the University of Virginia at 8pm. We are honored to have been invited to perform by our new composer friend, Rachel Devorah Trapp! We will be performing Rachel’s new work for horn and harp, Citrina Migration, as well as some of our other commissions. Colleen is also performing the Berio Sequenza for harp.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 23. UNIVERSITY PARK, PENNSYLVANIA (not Virginia). To round out our tour, we will travel to Pennsylvania State University to perform at the Northeast Horn Workshop‘s Regional Artists recital. We will be performing Roland by Michael Weinstein-Reiman. We have also signed up to be vendors at the workshop, so that hornists in attendance have the opportunity to buy select Apple Orange Pair scores and and CDs. We are excited to finally be formally presenting Apple Orange Pair to the Northeast horn region!

Apple Orange Pair to perform at American Harp Society national institute, June 2015

We are beyond thrilled to announce that Apple Orange Pair will be performing a 30-minute program of new music for harp and horn at the American Harp Society’s national Summer Institute this summer in Utah! The institute’s stated focus is on “furthering the education of students of all ages.” We are grateful to the proposals committee for including us! It is a rare privilege to be able not only to perform at a national harp event, but to be able to present the works of several composers who have written for us to this audience as well.

The institute is being held at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. Institute dates are June 21-24, 2015. We hope to soon be finalizing details about when our recital will take place, as well as set the details for our musical program.
